- Agency List
- You do not need to work community service hours to graduate from LGHS; however, many colleges encourage their students to volunteer within their community.
- Working community service hours does not get you a “gold seal” or any other notation on your diploma.
- Making a commitment to a volunteer position shows maturity, self-assurance, enthusiasm, and responsibility.
- Community service is not working for your parent over the summer, or sweeping your grandma’s sidewalk. It is not going to meetings at your church, or working as a law clerk for your uncle.
- When you work within your own community you are providing a helping hand to someone who needs it, and learning to support others less fortunate than yourself.
- To report hours worked, get a “letter” from the organization you work for (on their letterhead) showing your hours, dates, and a brief description of what you did, and turn it in to Mrs. Rector in the Career Center for approval by the Assistant Principal.
- To show community service hours on your transcript, you need to work a minimum of 100 hours over your years at LGHS. The hours will be included on your senior transcript.
