Course Description:
This is a co-educational program fulfilling cosmetology state licensing requirements. The course includes theory and practice in hair styling, cutting, coloring, permanent waving, curling, manicuring, make-up, facials, and scalp massages. Students work on mannequins and live models. Laboratory training modeling, and receptionist duties are included.
The license requires 1600 hours of training. Since few students can complete this while in high school, a graduate may continue training as an ROP adult student. Students earn approximately 500 hours per school year, and additional hours may be earned by attending during school vacations.
Special Requirements:
Students will attend one of several conveniently located Beauty Colleges. Some schools hold classes Tuesday through Saturdays, and students must attend on Saturdays. Other schools schedule classes Mondays through Fridays. After high school graduation, students may attend as adults, to complete the required 1600 hours. Smocks or uniform required.
