Course Description:
A one year course designed to provide students with entry-level skills as technicians in the Engineering Technology/Electronics Industry providing the following computer based training:
- Hands-on use of state-of-the-art test equipment to learn basic electronics
- Computer-aided instruction complete with "hands-on" experiments
- Internships at XEROX for high performers
- Earn college credit at SJCC, EVC, and Mission Colleges
- Receive credit towards high school graduation
Class activities include:
- Using basic soldering techniques to build up a standard circuit board
- Build circuits according to schematics and test for current, voltage, and resistance in both DC/AC and semiconductor environments
- Learn to operate and utilize an oscilloscope in testing and troubleshooting situations
- Use three robotic platforms including Lego Mindstorm to explore concepts
- Use an IBM type computer to learn electronics concepts in computer-aided instructional programs
- Build an electronics project which the student and instructor agree upon together (optional)
