    Hot Potatoes Half - Baked Software: A free software download that allows teachers to create great web page games/puzzles/quizzes.  After downloading the software, you do have to register it to use all features. 

    Possible types of quizzes/exercises include: 

    • multiple-choice quiz (sample) 
    • gap-fill (fill in the blank) 
    • crossword 
    • jumbled sentence 
    • matching 
    • ordering exercise 
EdHelper.Com A site with worksheet generators, problems, exams, and standard tests. 
School Discovery School Discovery.Com is a leading educational site and offers a variety of teacher resources.  Their puzzle site offers the following types of puzzles: 
  • Mazed Things - Unique Hand Drawn Mazes 
  • Word Search - Type in a list of words and the computer will hide them in a grid of letters.  Choose the size, set a few options and you are finished. 
  • Word Search with a Hidden Message - After all the words are found the remaining letters used reveal a hidden message. 
  • Criss-Cross Puzzle - Your list of words willb e linked together, numbered and formatted, ready for you to print and hand out. 
  • Computer Generated Mazes - Choose from a variety of shapes, set the size, and the computer will generate a unique maze ready to paste into your newsletter. 
  • Number Block - Creates a block of numbers that will challenge arithmetic and algebra skills. Each row, column and diagonal add up to a total but some numbers are missing. 
  • Math Square-Math formulas are linked together to form a square. 
  • Double Puzzle- Enter a set of words or phrases to be scrambled. Then enter a final phrase that the solver will be able to put together from the letters in the clue words. The final phrase can be scrambled or numbered. 
  • Cryptograms - Enter a phrase and the computer will assign a number to each letter. 
  • Letter Tiles-Enter a phrase and the computer will break it into tiles with letters on them. The solver unscrambles the tiles to rebuild the phrase. 
  • Fallen Phrase -Enter a phrase and the computer will place the letters in a grid. Each letter appears in the same column, but below where it should be. The solver must put the letters back in the grid and rebuild the phrase. 
Creating Worksheets at School Discovery.Com Another School Discovery.com site that serves as a wonderful resources for teachers.  It allows teachers to create worksheets or select from one of the many pre-made sites.
Creating Quizzes at School Discovery.Com A great site for creating quizzes.  These quizzes can be made to print or for students to complete on-line.  Use of these services is free, but does require registration.  (sample quiz)
Connecting Students.Com A site with many pre-made puzzles (crossword and word search) available.  A neat feature of the site is that it also has links to where students can find more information to answer the questions.  Possible puzzle subjects include: books (Harry Potter, Seuss), holidays, people, science, social studies.
Games Kids Play While this is NOT a site to create quizzes or use the computer, it provides you with the rules to the games you played as a kid. This site is packed with rules to those old favorites.  (A good resources for games not on the Internet)
