What's New
- The campus is now powered by Cisco switchgear for all networking
- The campus is using Comcast Business cable for general internet access (8MB+)
- We are now using Apple hardware for Apple and Windows environments
- NMF Apple shipments have arrived
- Cisco VoIP phone system coming soon

Best Practices
- Go out and get a USB data key (2GB or better) and store your stuff on it
- Use your personal email account (GMail, Hotmail, etc) for personal stuff
- Check if the school content filter allows your site before presenting it in class
- If using Office 2007-08 save backwards to Office 2003-04 for school use (e.g. no .docx files)
- Hold down the "option" key during reboot to get to the other OS on lab iMacs
- Not all labs have all software, check which lab works best for your needs
- Do several practice runs before presenting electronic material to your class
- Take good care of all our computer equipment and peripherals, it's tough to get & maintain
- Save and backup important documents often

Tech TA
"I would love to tell you what I do, but then, I'd have to hire you!"  -- Mr. G

If you are smart, hard working, and want to help run a large-scale campus data environment, then this is the gig for you. This is a superior learning opportunity for those of you who are interested in moving into a career as an IT professional.

As a long-term Tech TA you will learn everything, soup-to-nuts (this is Silicon Valley after all). Eventually, you will learn to assess user needs, spec equipment, buy, build, configure, deploy, train, maintain, and eventually dispose of tired and fully depreciated assets. You will learn to motivate yourself and others as you move our campus along the technology frontier - into the future. Yes, you can do IT!

Hands down, you will not get a better training environment...and best of all its Free!

Just be a student in good standing, GPA 3.0 or better, trustworthy, competent and capable.

Only serious inquiries, please.

Mr. Gallegos
