Q: What is
the Home & School Club?
A: The Home & School Club is an all-volunteer non-profit
organization that fosters a close relationship between home
and school, and assists in the general welfare of the school
by supporting the faculty and staff, providing volunteers
for school functions, and limited fund-raising for school
needs unmet by other state, county or district resources.
Q: What are the benefits
of joining the Home & School Club?
A: Like most successful public high schools, parent volunteers
provide a rich resource of support across many areas of
campus life. As a Home & School Club member, you can
be a part of your student’s High School experience,
become more connected and involved in the LGHS community,
and lend your talent and expertise in helping to plan,
manage and staff many valued student activities and programs
on campus.
Q: What activities does
the Home & School Club support?
A: A few examples include the All-school Picnic, Student
Scholarships, Senior Breakfast, Senior Baccalaureate event,
Educator of the Year Award, and the annual Teacher Appreciation
luncheon. We also support the Teen & Family Counseling
Center, an SAT Preparation Course, the student-run publication
called Reality Check, and a variety of activities sponsored
by the LGHS student government and leadership organizations.
Q: How can I get involved?
A: Come to a Home & School Club meeting. Meetings
are held the third Thursday of each month in the LGHS
Career Center, Room 91A, at 8:45 a.m. Print out and complete
the volunteer form on this website and deliver it to the
Home & School Club inbox in the LGHS main office.
Or email any of the Home & School Club contacts listed
on this website.
Q: How can I stay informed?
A: If you become a Home & School Club member and would
like to be included in the “email” tree to
receive updates and news from Home & School Club,
email Paula Wessels, paula@wessels.us
with your name and email address; then add homeandschool@lists.net
to your address book so our emails aren’t added
to your spam folder. You can also check back frequently
for information on the Los Gatos High School website,
www.lghs.net.
Q: What is the student
directory, and how can I get one?
A: When you become a member of the Home & School Club,
you will receive a student directory, which is a compendium
of contact information provided by participating LGHS
families who are also Home & School Club members.
The annual H&SC membership dues include our cost to
produce the directory, as well as other school activities
for students.
Q: I sent in a volunteer
form but haven’t heard from anyone, what should
I do?
A: Committee leaders have been provided with names of
volunteers interested in helping with their activities.
They will most likely contact you via email when they
need volunteer support. Click on our contacts link to
find email addresses so you can contact Committee leaders
directly for more information.
