Associated Student Body (ASB)
Student Body Officers
Student Body Officers are elected in the spring. Candidates
for these officers must have a "B" grade point
average at the time of the elections and the previous semester.
Previous student council experience as a class officer or
a commissioner is recommended.

Class Officers
Each class elects a slate of officers every year to organize
its activities, raise funds and provide representation on
the student council. Officers include: President, Vice-President,
Secretary, Treasurer, two Class Representatives, and two
Spirit Representatives. Candidates must have and maintain
a "C" grade point average. |
Athletics
Los Gatos High School has a long-standing tradition of athletic
excellence with many league and section championships as
exhibited by banners displayed in the large gym. Sports
are open to students with interest and ability whose parents
reside within the Los Gatos boundaries. To maintain eligibility,
athletes must be enrolled in 25 or more units, have a 2.0
grade point average in the grading period preceding and
during participation and have passed 20 units. An annual
physical exam is required and completion of all required
forms is mandatory prior to participation. Students who
participate without meeting both residence and academic
requirements will cause forfeiture of games in which they

Clubs
Joining a club which interests you is a good way to get
involved in high school activities. Membership is open to
all student. If you are interested in joining a club, contact
the advisor and/or attend a meeting. See the main Clubs
Page for more information. |
Commissioners
Commissioners are appointed each year by the Student Body
President to participate in the decision making and organization
of certain Student Body Activities. If interested, see
the Assistant Principal in charge of Activities or the
Student Body President. Commission categories are as follows:
Athletic, Club, Election, Entertainment, Finance, International,
New Student, Publicity, Service, and Sound and Lighting. |
Dances
Dances are held from 8:00pm - 11:00pm in the large gym unless
otherwise announced. No one is admitted to a dance after
9:30pm and once students have left the dance, they may
not return that evening. Dress for most dances is either
casual or dressy. The Senior Prom, the Coronation
and the Senior Ball are semi-formal or formal. |
Drama
The Drama Department puts on two dramatic productions
per year. See the Performing
Arts Department for more information. |
Music
Los Gatos High School offers a plethora of musical activities
that include MARCHING BAND,
AUXILARY BAND, JAZZ BAND, ORCHESTRA, CONCERT CHOIR and JAZZ
CHOIR. |
Student Publications
• El
Gato - The El Gato school newspaper is produced by the
Writing for Publication class. The newspaper is published
approximately every three weeks.
• Reality
Check publishes stories written by students. The topics
focus on issues teens deal with in their lives.
• Wildcat Yearbook
is published by the Yearbook class.
Students who wish to take part in
these activities must enroll in the Yearbook or Writing
for Publication classes.

Speech & Debate
Los Gatos High School has won many Forensic Awards in Speech
and Debate. Students interested in participating should
contact the supervising teacher. The yearly De Havilland Cup program selects
the student who delivers the best dramatic presentation.
The yearly Miller Cup award for public speaking is presented
to a a sophomore student selected for best speaking ability
in front of an audience. |
Talent Shows
"Thursday Night Live" is a talent show sponsored
by the sophomore class and held in January. The "Senior
Talent Show." sponsored by the senior class is held
late in the year and is a culminating event for the senior
class. Participants must have a "C" average. |
