Directions:
Find, summarize and present a current event article related to United States
or World history, politics or government. Articles relating to sports,
crime, editorials and human interest are not acceptable. I prefer national
or international news over local news.
1. Print or cut out the article from the newspaper. Then “map” (highlight and take notes in the margins) the article.
2. Write a one paragraph short summary of the article. Include the basic facts of the story and one quote.
3. In a second paragraph write a discussion question and answer or connect the article to something we have studied in class. Discussion questions should ask someone’s opinion on the current event. For example, "Do you think the $700 billion bail out should be passed by Congress?" Instead of a discussion question, you can explain how this current event relates to something we have studied in class.
4. The summary and discussion question/history connection should be no longer than one page, typed, double spaced.
4. Turn in the article and summary and present the information to the class the day the article is due.
