Track Use
The LGHS Track is open for community use:
- Weekdays: 6:00–8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.until 30 minutes after sunset when no school events, athletic practices or games, maintenance activities, or approved facility rentals are taking place.
- Weekends: 6:00 a.m. - 30 minutes after sunset when the track is not reserved for school activities, athletics, maintenance, or approved rentals.
Please Note: The track may close without notice for school activities, athletic events, maintenance, or approved facility rentals. Visitors are encouraged to check Facilitron for the most current schedule before visiting.
Los Gatos High School Track to Open for Community Use Outside the School Day
District’s New Facility Support Model Expands Community Access
Los Gatos, July 31, 2026: Beginning August 1, 2026, the Los Gatos-Saratoga Union High School District (LGSUHSD) will open the Los Gatos High School track to community members for recreational use during designated hours when school is not in session and the facility is not being used for school programs, athletics, or approved rentals.
The expanded community access is made possible through the District's new facility support model, which strengthens staffing while ensuring compliance with the California Civic Center Act and responsibly managing taxpayer resources.
"Our schools are an important part of the communities we serve," shared Superintendent Heath Rocha. "Over the past several years, we've heard from many community members who wanted greater access to the track. Rather than rushing to reopen it, we wanted to ensure we had a sustainable plan in place that would allow us to welcome the community back while continuing to prioritize student programs, safety, and responsible stewardship of our facilities."
Over the past year, the District has implemented a new approach to facility operations by adding dedicated Utility Workers at both Los Gatos & Saratoga High Schools, along with a designated Administrative Assistant to coordinate facility rentals. This model improves customer service for community organizations using District facilities.
The additional on-site support also provides greater flexibility to make facilities available for community use when they are not needed for instructional programs, student activities, athletics, maintenance, or scheduled rentals.
The Los Gatos High School track will be open to the public outside of the instructional day and during periods when no school events, athletic practices or competitions, maintenance activities, or approved facility rentals are taking place. Community members are asked to help preserve the facility by following posted rules, respecting scheduled closures, and sharing the space responsibly.
"This is a win for our entire community," Superintendent Rocha added. "We've listened to our residents, invested in a better way of supporting our facilities, and found a solution that allows us to expand access while protecting the resources our students rely on every day."
Current community access hours and facility guidelines are available at www.lghs.net. Hours may be adjusted throughout the year to accommodate school activities, maintenance, and special events.
