AP Exam Registration

AP Exam Registration
Posted on 09/25/2021

Each year in May, students who are currently enrolled in AP classes have the opportunity to take a final AP Exam. Scoring well on an AP exam can sometimes earn students college credit for their high school class if the college they attend accepts their scores. To check what schools take AP exam results please reference https://apstudents.collegeboard.org/getting-credit-placement/search-policies

Please note, the AP Exams in May are NOT for 2022-2023 High School AP course placements.

Students must register online for 2022 AP Exams. This registration will take a few minutes and can be completed from any computer with internet access. Here are the important dates for the registration process:

Monday, September 20, 2021 at 4:00 PM - Registration Begins

Los Gatos High School offers families the convenience of paying exam fees online at the time of registration. Please be sure to have a credit card or debit card available before beginning registration. Paying online is a great way to make sure that payment has been made while avoiding having to mail payment. Each AP exam costs $120.00.

In order to register, students must use this link

To complete their registration, students must answer all of the required questions. Registration is not complete until students have printed the pdf of the confirmation page provided at Total Registration AND students use the class JOIN CODE to join their class section at the College Board (see attached).  We know that parents may register their students for exams, however we strongly recommend that parents and students are both present while registering to ensure that the correct exams are ordered.

Friday, October 1, 2021 at 11:59 PM - Registration Ends

After this time, registrations will no longer be accepted. Please check your AP Total Registration confirmation receipt to make sure you registered for the appropriate AP Exams.

After November 8, 2021 the College Board charges $40 Cancellation Fee per exam cancelled.

Students who cancel an AP exam after November 8 will receive $80 refund per exam refund.  Students taking Spring Semester AP US Government & Politics may register for their Spring AP Government & Politics exam in February.  All other AP exams must be ordered during the regular registration window which ends October 1.
